Hi,
I am a newbie so bare with me please :-)
I was wondering if anyone has posted a protect.lst sample with all of Paranoid2000's suggestions in "A Guide to Producing a Secure Configuration for Outpost" and/or any other useful suggestions that should be included in protect.lst.
The reason for this request is so that I can write every rule out within protect.lst and save it there. If I ever I have to format my computer or update the computer I like the idea of having all the information saved in a text file so that all the is required is a cut and paste for all my specific needs to protect.lst.
Maybe, "a guide to edit your protect.lst" would be a good sticky note?
I really like this firewall and found that the more time you learn about how it works the more you like it.

Hello wazzamcg, Welcome to the Forum:)
The only other preset list I know of is this one by MegaHertz here 1. But as far as a protect.lst I am not aware of one posted here. You might browse through our Rules Creations and Preset Forum where the above link is stickied and see what is there.

Rather then doing that, why not get your rules exactly as you like them. Then back up your configuration files. If something happens to your current set, it's much easier to open the backup files. No cut and paste required.

Actually Goonman, what MegaHertz covered for (Secure Service Host Preset - the last comment on the thread) in "The Presets: Greatest Hits Collection" is very close to what I was looking for.
Maybe this is where I am a tad confused. I believe that part of the thread is for the "Application" presets for svchost.exe in protect.lst. If it is, where exactly do I put it? That's why I was hoping for an example of the complete version of protect.lst for "A Guide to Producing a Secure Configuration for Outpost".
Thanks Manny, looks like I will have to research your alternative suggestion as well.
The reason why I was interested in a text version of the rules was for the ease of it being progressively editted, as well as, saving the file to a floppy.

You can save your OutPost configuration File to different folder of your choice then copy it to a floppy. As Manny suggested that would be easier. But make sure you get all of the files.
