Can anyone tell me if it is possible to allow incoming connections from a Dynamic Host's IP address.

When I am on the move (hotels etc) my laptop has a static host name of "laptop.domain.com" however the IP address changes all the time as you would expect.

I leave my home office computer on 24/7 and want to connect into it on a (it runs Apache) but every time I enable Outpost it prompt for approval when ever my laptop IP address changes. I do not want to allow unlimited IP access if I can avoid it for security.

Any help really apreciated.

Thanks

Night Cameleon

Hello NightChameleon,
To achieve maximum flexibility and security for what you are trying to achieve, I recommend listening to (or reading) Steve Gibsons podcasts - those with VPN in the title.
You can download the podcasts, listen to them live, or download them in text form here:

I think you will find not just the answers here, but maybe a better solution than you imagined possible :)

Hello NightCameleon,
Welcome to the forums.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to allow incoming connections from a Dynamic Host's IP address. Not in the way you want. The rules are created and the address is locked into the rules. The domain is only used as an easy lookup at this time. You could use a range to limit the exposure but that would still be a risk.
If the information from the links nippauls suggested do not lead you to an answer there was a similar problem in this thread by spiril with a solution to edit the configuration then send the files back with the new IP. Anyway to edit IP blocklist from outside Outpost. (http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15491)
