Hello,

I am having problems lately with Outpost PRO v3.0 (557/437), when i start my pc its blocking inbound and outbound and showing it the logs, and its working like it should, until i switch of to another XP account and then its not blocking anymore so I am not safe at this point.
I have Scand my ports with many different websites like: https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 and http://www.pcflank.com/ some PORTS are STEALTH and some just CLOSED, Outpost is in STEALTH MODE.
I have a very simple DSL 512/256 DIRECT connection (no router) and my XP firewall is turned off.

Does anyone no what’s the problem here???

Thanks in advance from,:)

Hello anna janssen,
welcome to the Forums :)

Unfortunately, Outpost doesn't handle FUS - Fast User Switching of Windows users very well. If you change user without logging out of Windows and then Logging back in as the new user, you get the impression that Outpost is no longer running. It is running and protecting you, but you have no means of accessing the logs, the interface, of making changes to Outpost settings.
You can read more about this here:
http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15676&highlight=fast+user+switching

Your second point about Stealth. Although you have set Outpost to Stealth, the way your rules are configured can override this setting and show some ports as closed, or even open. To check this, first make sure that none of your applications are in the trusted area. If they are, then drag them into the Partially Trusted Applications area. This may resolve the problem, but you can read more here:
http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10963&highlight=stealthing+ports

I hope this helps you resolve your difficulties.

Ok thank you for the detailed explanation, but is Outpost still detecting intrusion or hacker attacks on the opened ports shown by shields up?

Hi anna,
If the ports are showing as open, then you need to close or preferably stealth them by several means included in the links I posted. To start with, move any trusted applications into partially trusted, then follow the instructions in the links I provided, and in the links from those threads.
It seems that you may be new to Outpost, and it takes a bit of time and study to completely secure Outpost, but once it is done it is super.
Please move any applications from trusted (if you have any there) to partially trusted, and read the threads, and the links from those threads, and make adjustments that seem pertinent to your settings.
