Hello,

I have purchased and installed the Outpost Security Suite 2007 latest release and for some unknown reason it works not wel.

In the first at least 7 adware and spyware items are not detected, mine clean installed windows xp pro is sometimes frozen this occurs when i will click with the right mouse button on te outpost security in the taskbar, also a lot of applications are frozen when i tried to start these applications.

I have deinstalled the suite and try an other firewall and anti-spyware i was surprised coolwebsearch was found, dataminers are found and tracing cookies are found and Outpost detect nothing. I have reinstalled the suite and despite some applications are reacting not well or windows xp is completely frozen and i can only reset the pc and then the database is damaged.

I am not happy with this situation and what is going wrong, who have any idea.

Hello kikker,

welcome to the forum! Unfortunately, no single antimalware utility can possibly detect all known malware. The fact you have coolwebsearch infection on your machine could be just one of several more serious bugs. You may want to check out Castlecops Malware Removal and Prevention Guide (http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_Removal_and_Prevention:_Introduction) and/or Aumha: Parasite Fight! (http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.php) and try the recommended utilities for detecting/cleaning malware, as well as submit a hijackthis log to their experts for analysis and subsequent cleaning instructions.

Ok this was not the answer i expect, coolwebsearch is an known adware component and should be in every detection regonized all other anti-malware on the market detects it well.

Dataminers, tracing cookies Outpost should block this there is al lot of work to do for the developers this version is not stable and gives me not the secure feeling i had about Outpost the prior version Outpost Pro was working good.

Also a lot of applications are not running stable while the suite is installed i have disabled the smartscan but it doesn't matter so the question is why are a lot of applications with strange behaviors while the suite is installed and configured well.

this problem is solved the biggest problem was an incorrect winsock i have repair it and reinstalled the suite no problem at all everything works super and 98 % of the malware is intercepted and destroyed before it can harm mine system.

Ok this was not the answer i expect, coolwebsearch is an known adware component and should be in every detection regonized all other anti-malware on the market detects it well.CWS is (unfortunately) updated rather frequently so presents a fast-moving target for AV/AS developers. The latest versions also use rootkit techniques to hide themselves which OSS does not currently deal with (though it should be able to detect CWS before it gets installed).Dataminers, tracing cookies Outpost should block this there is al lot of work to do for the developers this version is not stable and gives me not the secure feeling i had about Outpost the prior version Outpost Pro was working good.Cookies present a privacy rather than a security risk and cannot be classed as "spyware". Outpost allows you to control these via its Active Content filter and the best way of dealing with them (in my view) is to block every one unless you have a login at the site in question (e.g. forums) or wish to shop there. Also a lot of applications are not running stable while the suite is installed i have disabled the smartscan but it doesn't matter so the question is why are a lot of applications with strange behaviors while the suite is installed and configured well.Specific examples would help in diagnosing any problems, but many may be due to conflicts with other security software also. One consequence of the increasing sophistication of malware is that security software generally now has to delve deeper into Windows' internals - and this increases the likelihood of problems if multiple security products are installed.
