Why are the "specified remote port" and "specified local port" grayed out in Rules | Event? I'd like to use them.

You need to select (and fill) another ruleelement first. Try protocoll or outgoing. Click a bit around, youll find it out soon.

I tried those suggestions originally, but they didn't work. And this is true whether adding a new rule or editing an existing one. Might this just be a glitch in my particular firewall? It's the Pro RC1 I'm trying out.

I think I've figured out why the two boxes are grayed out. The only rule I tried to make (so far) was for ICMP. Apparently, since there's an ICMP Settings box it's necessary to adjust settings for those ports listed there. Therefore any additional settings in the System Rules box are not permitted. I've included a screenshot of the first grayed box. I have found in trying to create some non-ICMP rules (just as a test) there is no graying of the boxes. I'm still working with the AtGuard mentality.
By the way, I'm sufficiently pleased with Outpost to go ahead and purchase several for myself and friends. Thanks for the good work from Mikhail, the other developers, and to the moderators who help out those of us new here.

Ports are only available with TCP and UDP protocols in Outpost.
Also, ICMP protocol don't use ports.

I'm still working with the AtGuard mentality.
You'll find that a lot of us came from AtGuard:)

Good choice. Your friends have a very good friend, indeed.
