Hi Kanga,
Welcome to the forums. I am sure someone with voice chat will answer your question shortly.
What I do with new connection problems is delete my logs and go into the app. Then I look at the blocked list and see what it is that needs to be enabled and create rules accordingly. I call it trial and error learning. Others in this forum have incredible experience in these matters and can tell you right away what rules are needed. I am just not that sharp in networking ( as in internet networking) matters.
Stay tuned.
chris

Kanga, can you look through the logs if you see blocked entries the moment the voice chat fails?

If you disable Outpost as a test, does the chat than work?

I am having this problem also. When I disable outpost I can use voice chat but as soon as I start outpost I get voice chat disconected. I will try again tonight when my friend is online and check the logs as you suggest, but in the meantime has anyone come up with a solution? I have given msn messenger full rights.

I've noticed that you can call voice calls to other broadband users perfectly but with my modem using friends it doesn't work.. So it seems that the problem is some how in the other end??

Hi all,

msn messenger demands different udp ports in different countries... strange but true. a standard ruleset such as that provided by the auto-rules in OP doesn't work for all countries.

make one UDP rule:

UDP
ALLOW

don't give direction or port restrictions, and place this rule near the top of the msn messenger ruleset, and hopefully your problems will be resolved.

This is a three year old thread dealing with OP free.

Making a blanket allow all rule for UDP is ill advised. That is little better that making any application "trusted."

Please allow this spammer revived thread a decent burial again.

Hi Firepost,
You're right, I didn't think to look at the original posting date :)
