View Full Version : Re-enter registration

Specs:
Windows XP Professional SP1
Outpost Firewall Pro v1.0.1817.1645
Outpost's main driver filtnt.sys v1.0.242
---
It seems whenever Outpost is started, it always asks me to enter my registration codes. This also happens with Tauscan as I had purchased the bundle.
Could this be because of Outpost constantly crashing? I started a new thread on this problem.
Thanks,

Hi Zero,
I did a search for registration codes and found a similar situation. You may have to use the free version for a while until Version 2 comes out ( soon)
here is the link.

Take care,
Chris
Comment by Danil: Chris found the link that has relation to another problem. No need to await version 2.0, just scroll the thread down for my posting and check link in it

Hey chrisclu,
On top of it tonight :)
I guess I didn't really understand what was going on in that post. What are the "security modules" that need to be updated hopefully in v2, and are they what differentiates the free from pro version?
What options will I lose by going with the free version? I am running a network (with firewall router as gateway) and would like to use file/print sharing throughout internal LAN.
It sound like this is a pretty rare occurance which really bites for me. How long does Agnitum expect v2 to be out? I thought I've been hearing about it for a bit now.
Thanks again chrisclu,

I almost panicked when you said network as You need pro to have a trusted zone for your other computers.
Thank goodness you have a router. Free version should work fine for you.
Do you use the "save configuration as" feature. If so, Free doesn't have it. However, you can always save it by goint to the Outpost Firewall folder and saving the Configuration.cfg file to another folder or drive.
Is the router a LinkSys by any chance?
Anyway it's late here. See you tomorrow.
Chris

Haha, yeah, I made sure to let you know I am behind a router as I have seen many threads about OP 1.0 not being compatible with ICS. IMO a (firewall) router is much better to have than ICS setup incase these kind of problems arise or the gateway pc has hardware/software problems. In some respects, easier to deal with than even Linux box for same reason. Also, a workstation shouldn't be used as a firewall NAT router either; a firewall should completely isolate the LAN from the internet.
Saving the *.cfg manually would be just as easy--i can manage :).
Router is a Netgear FR314 Firewall Router. Based on stripped-down version of Sonicwall's $500 SOHO series, it's a nice deal for $300 I think I paid. But...performance/configuration is not the only issue to consider--Netgear tech support is some of the worst support I have ever encountered (and heard of from others). It gets the job done nicely.
Night,

This is a known issue, and you can email Agnitum support and I believe they can send you a new key with instruction on making it stick.

Hrmm, I think I might have fixed the problem myself.
I was digging through my e-mail looking for who to notify about my registration and something caught my eye.
"Simply copy-paste the text between OUTPOST KEY BEGIN and OUTPOST KEY END"
What I was doing was copying the "OUPOST KEY BEGIN" and "OUTPOST KEY END" headers to the reg box. I guess I wasn't reading everything in the e-mail and assumed (like other proggies) to add these headers.
It seems to be working now and I'll make see if it happens again in next couple days.
Thanks chrisclu and root.

Thanks zero,
I hope that is all it was. We'll be able to point others to this thread. Somtimes the obvious escapes us :D

Hi,
I am having the same problem. The difference is I am only copying the actual code.
I will contact support as you recommend.
