Hi Jack,
sorry to direct a message at you, in particular.....but since you are a regular at news.grc.com I thought that you are the most likely person to help ;)
I have not been able to d/l any messages from grc for several days now (OE6) yet I see that others are able to post messages (by viewing the discussions part of the website).
Are you having any problems, I can't even get a ping reply to the newsgroup site ?..........seems to stop at verio.net in the US !!! (I'm in the UK)
I know about the attacks late last week but if it is still going on, how do others manage to post ?

regards,
spudkat

Sorry about the late reply, but a Sunday storm in my state really screwed up my phone line, slowing my dialup to a useless crawl.

As for GRC, I've had no problems (except for my own phone line) getting all messages. I haven't seen any other posts about such problems since those attacks. Whenever anyone does seem to have a hard time getting messages, and they're using OE, it's usually OEs' fault. Try deleting or resetting the messages for GRC, compact, and redownload. That always works for me.

HTH

Thx for your reply Jack,
I did all the usual stuff.....resetting, compacting....etc but still nothing.
Emailed my ISP this morning and although I got no reply, grc has magically been enabled again this evening.
I have an intuition that they may have blocked the grc IP because of last weeks attacks, but forgotten to unblock it.........I doubt they'd admit it tho' )

Question is, did I wake them up, or is verio.net in one of the 3 reportedly affected counties hit by the twisters ( on the UK BBC news.........you got a brief 15 seconds mention ) ;)

Hope you and your kin are all OK, I have friends in Yellowsprings, OH, if you know it ?

We don't get such extremes of weather in the UK, just 360 days of cloud and rain :D :D

regards,
spudkat.

Glad it's working now, I suppose it could've been your ISP, will probably never know ;)

As far as I know Verio's mainly on the west coast, and avoided the storm, but it's possible traffic to it, coming from the east was disrupted.

I was lucky, only getting high winds, and nobody I know suffered, but the death toll is 36 (5 in OH) and over 200 injured. 70 tornados from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico.

I've heard of Yellowsprings but never been there. I'm on the opposite end of the state from there. I hope they made out ok. From the maps I've seen, no tornados touched down in that area, they were all busy surrounding my area

If you want, you can get a little more detail at
CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2002/WEATHER/11/12/severe.storms/index.html)
