So, what (who) are you guys using for disposable e-mail addresses? Something like what mailexpire.com used to run that can be used for temporary addresses for newsgroup posting, registering for some goofy freeware that e-mails you the reg code, etc., then spams you forever.

Needs to be free and somebody that is somewhat trusted and that doesn't sell/use your real e-mail address!

I open a free account with hush mail which is great for temp use. If you use it for registrations and things then find yourself spammed alot just dont logon for 14 days and its closed. Always good for a fresh start in these matters!

Never use a hotmail (or other) account name which requires a number ( especially large ) at the end - spammers know the system, and will try sequential numbers after any account where that system is used.

unfortunately, myrealbox.com doesn't open new accounts at this time.
I'm using e-mail box at softhome.net, also FREE and POP3, but quite slow sometimes.
If anybody knows good, fast and free e-mail box with POP3, I'm interested.

How about Yahoo!

No pop3, no problem - http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/

One to avoid abusing with junkmail (coz it's a **** good service) is GMX Freemail - www.gmx.net - Unfortunately, no longer have an English site - the deal used to be (and may still be) - full POP3/SMTP access, and a frind who used them never even got any junkmail from them!

The deep pages seem impossible to get online translators to get hold of!

I create a new re-direct, my host give me upto 1000 re-directs (and 100 real addresses).

So I make an address like stephen345@coxster.com and anything sent to that address gets re-directed to my main address. When I want to try out some shareware or sign up for something that I'm not to sure about or if the co. can not be trusted to spam me I give them a re-direct address.

Any mail I get I bounce with Bounce Spam Mail, and if I get persistant spam I use spam assasin on my e-mail server.

If the re-direct is getting loads of spam I just drop the redirect and create another one. The old one then just returns bounce messages at server level so I don't even get bothered about them.

I use the service of Online.ie (http://online.ie) (Irish).
Signing up is in the left colomn at "Sign up for free". When you have singed up you can login (for webmail) at http://online.ie/mail.
But online.ie supports pop AND smtp with every connection so you can use it from every PC.
I am using it for sometime now and never had a problem with it. Only once a week a newsletter and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter but I like to read it and catch up with (possible) chanches in policy.

Thanks for the pointers guys. Plus I found two more forwarder-types (haven't tried them) at:

http://www.spammotel.com/

http://www.spamgourmet.com/

I'll go through the sites you've mentioned and see what works the best for me.

Hi Bassbag,

What spam policy do they have? I filter all @mail.ru emails and send them directly to /dev/null because of the amount of unwanted mail I got from people with this email address

.........................

Hello all,

I have used yahoopops for some time, and it is a great way to receive my yahoo mail through pop3 to Outlook Express.

Lately however yahoopops is not working for me - I consistently get this:

ERROR

The connection to the server has failed. Account: '------' at yahoo', Server: 'localhost', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

,,,,,,,,,,,,

I have been unable to fix this. Can anyone suggest a solution. perhaps with an Outpost setting, or whatever you think the problem may be?
I use Outpost Pro version 1.0.1817.1645 and I have Windows ME and Outlook Express 6.

Thanks much,

Jeff

p.s. - A tremendous free email is Fastmail.fm

does this error also occur if you temporarily disable OP ? try & see what happens.

Hello Aaronn,

I disabled OP and the error still occurred. Apparently it is not the fault of OP. I had thought that maybe there was an easy fix here.

There are a number of yahoopops users that have the same problem, according to the forum at the sourceforge site. Nobody seems to have the answer there however. The strange thing is that this error just appeared one day after weeks and weeks of smooth working. Same for the other folks who have written in with this error. So, it isn't just the fault of a new build or something like that.

can you send email via Yahoo with Outlook ? it does sound as if the problem is at the Yahoo end. A similar thing occured with me and Incredimail...one day i could use it with msn.com email, the next day i received the same message as you. now i can use it again! Who knows!

Care2.com is a great place to set up a bogus account. It is not spam free, but does have some filtering.
The reason I recommend it is because the more traffic it gets, the more money is generated to save animals and the environment. I am not a militant tree hugger, but I have great concerns about what we ar doing to theis planet, and Care2 helps save it a little. So, I log on and just delete the spam. Set the trash bin to be cleared on exit and its not much of a hassell.
Please consider this as an alternative.
Soon this planet will be uninhabitable if we don't each, in our own small way try to save it.

I care too, but never actively used the e-mail account. I stopped using it after some 150 days clicking the different links every day... saved a lot of square miles of rainforrest.
Yeah, perhaps I 'dbetter use the account as well :D

Hello all,

To let you know that I installed the new version of YahooPops (0.4) and it works fine. They must have fixed something in this new version, because it now works fine. I of course, uninstalled the old version completely first.

Aaron,

Glad you like fastmail.fm. I've been using this free email account for some time, and it is one of the best.

Regards,

Jeff
