Maybe somebody can help me with this problem.
I'm using Outpost Pro 2
I'm using VMWare 4 on a Windows 2000 host.
I'm on a small LAN with a router to the internet.

Question
I want to run a Windows 2000 guest unprotected, so outpost must not block anything from that IP number.
How to configure it so Outpost won't block the guest OS.

I know it is Outpost because if I shut it down evrything works fine.
Maybe this message can help, came from outpost "Block Transit Packets"

Thanks for the time anybody wants to spend on it.

many users have posted problems with outpost and vmware, and many of us have submitted bug reports. agnitum has ignored every request to fix outpost to make it work properly with vmware. basically there reply has been "go away". so i wouldnt count on being able to get vmware to work with outpost anytime soon. i have given up waiting for a fix.

lupardi,

The curret version of OP (v2.0.238.3121/290) is supposed to fix the transit packet problems.

This thread is about 40 days old and I do not have any idea why it has beed dredged up. Everything has a priority, VM Ware included. I do not know what Agnitum plans to do for compatibility with this application, but it will depend on the number of users requesting help with this application and the technical complexity of a fix. Outpost, in its current form, is really for home or small network users anyway. I am not sure how VM Ware fits into that equation. As I said, this was an old thread that has been revived, so it is getting closed. I can see no sense in bumping a one month old thread just to complain like this. We are unable to help with an issue of this complexity in the forum anyway.

Maybe the new version of Outpost will help, I do not know.

End of discussion. Thank you for your cooperation.

jamie3 - I'm using VMWare 4.x on WinXP host with OP installed, and I have no probs with it. I'm running Linux guest under VMWare with bridged connection. and everything run very smoothþ
So there are no problems with Agnitum support - it's only a problem when user can not configure software properly.

Hi Dmut,

Thanks very much for that feedback. I was unaware that any forum leaders were using VM Ware. Since I am unfamiliar with this application, although I am tempted to try it, I will refer future threads regarding VM Ware to you. I really appreciate your input on this issue.

Thanks. :)

hey David, no problem :) , I just pointed that it is possible to successfully use OP along with VMWare.
Actually, VMWare has 3 different method of networking on host machine, I'm using a default one: "Bridged" networking. It is possible that OP has a probs with other two methods: "NAT" and "Host-only", I dunno exactly because I never tried. Will make some experiments about that.
