Hello,

If I add an application to the "Blocked applications" list in Outpost, can I be sure that once launch the application is totally blocked from internet communication?

Let say I have just installed a (exe and few dll files) freeware whose function has nothing to do with internet communication. I would like to be sure it sends nothing out via internet. How do I ensure the application is not carrying out internet communication?

Is there a guide for that?

I was thinking I can set "Stop all" mode while I am on-line, launch the application for a while and check the log... Is this the only hard way?

Your advice will be much appreciated!

Yes, that application should be denied any communication. There is one special case that involves applications using loopback communication. You can read about here:
Outpost Rules Processing Order (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8394)
But with proper setup, problems can be avoided.

Place it in the Blocked Applications list. That should take care of it.

If you want to verify, you could try a packet sniffer like Ethereal (http://www.ethereal.com/) and also by examining your Allowed and Blocked Logs in Outpost.

No, make the application a Blocked Application as I have instructed above.
