Hi
I'm currently using three browsers but the ones involved are firebird and IE 6.0
there is a plugin in firebird that allows to view pages in IE if promted from firebird to do so
However when promted the firewall stops the sharing of webpages and displays the message hidden feature blocked at ports 53 and 80
Is there anyway around this this rule in this ocassion? Thank you

Hi mengano,

Yes there is a way to avoid this. However by making such a change, it is important for you to understand that some malware/leaktests may take advantage of the fact that they can run as a hidden process and use the IE rules to gain access to the internet. If you have a good anti-virus and anti-trojan software, then that should mitigate any risks associated with this action. The choice is yours.

1. Go to the directory where you installed Outpost.

2. Find and open the file called 'outpost.ini'. You should see the following entries:

[DisableNetworkForHiddenProcesses]
iexplore.exe
explorer.exe

3. Remove 'iexplore.exe' from that list and that should fix your problem. Although, you may have to Exit and Shutdown Outpost and then restart. Rebooting might be better.

Have a good day. :)

Hi mengano,

That sounds good to me. I just wanted to make sure that you were aware of all of the positive and negative implications of making this change.

Good luck. :)

What stops a leaktest or a trojan from doing the same change in outpost.ini ?!
