    Question SmartScan checkbox greyed out

Regarding OFP 7.5.2, why would the "Enable Smartscan technology" checkbox in the Settings menu be greyed out ?

    Is the antispyware functionality enabled?

    Re: SmartScan checkbox greyed out

Ok, that's what I mean. The smartscan is for creating scan status cache files for component control and the real time scanner. I've never seen it grayed out. I wonder if something is blocking these cache files from being created?

How long have you had 7.5.2 installed and was it a clean install or an update?

    Manny,

OFP was just recently upgraded to 7.5.2 with no errors during the process.

    Enclosed is a screenshot.

Take a look at your Machine.Ini and see what it says.

If it is Disabled, here are the Directions to Enable it:
    To enable the modules manually:

Disable the product's self-protection by right-clicking the product's system tray icon (in the right-hand end of the Windows task bar) and selecting Disable Self-Protection.
Exit Outpost by right-clicking the product's system tray icon and selecting Exit.
Open the file: C:\Program Files\Agnitum\Outpost Firewall Pro\machine.ini or C:\Program Files\Agnitum\Outpost Security Suite Pro\machine.ini depending on whether you have Outpost Firewall Pro or Outpost Security Suite Pro installed on your computer. (The installation folders specified are the default folder locations.)

Note: If you cannot find the specified file, your computer most likely has the 'hide extensions for known file types' option selected. To change this option, click Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View and clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.

If you have the Anti-Malware (Anti-Spyware) module disabled, change the 'EnableScanner' parameter value to 'TRUE'.If you have the Web Control module disabled, change the 'EnableContentProcessing' and 'EnableContentHandler' parameters values to 'TRUE'.

    Save the changes made.
Start Outpost and enable its self-protection
    .

If it does not work, then you probably have a bad install.

That would be my next step as well. After that, if there's no change, I would use clean.exe in the safe mode to cleanly uninstall OP and start again. Bad installs do happen occasionally. Use a new download and turn off all your software before the new install. You can reuse your configuration file if you want to.
