Antivirus to use with OP4 or OP2008 ?

Hi!
Iīm still running OP4 on XP SP3 (OP2008 didnīt work for me).

Problem is the antivirus. Iīve been usin Kaspersky 5 pro without problems and now try kav 7 (latest), but it really donīt work (Iīve used the different guides here and at the kaspersky forum). It create a huge amount of loopbacks that makes everything go slow. Disabling web-antivir helps a little but doesnt stop the loopbacks, but when disabling also the mail-antivir the loopbacks dissapear and internet runs smooth.
Dropdown menus in ie7 hang for 15sek when activated and this only goes away when disabling proactive defence.... leaving nothing left to protect me

Soooo, what can I do?
Have you my setup (OP4 on XP SP3) and made it work with kaspersky? I havenīt tested the new kav8 beta yet for example.....

or do you have the BEST OPIMAL allround solution that makes the world a greater place to live in?
Maybe another antivir?
NOD32 (fast, not that many false positives) looks interesting among others.

My solution was to go entirely with Outpost Security Suite.

Re: Antivirus to use with OP4 or OP2008 ?

Haha, I kind of ssuspected that answer on this forum, as I would have waited for someone on the Kaspersky forum to suggest their security suit.

I havenīt seen a comparative test on the Agnitum antivir though, and until then itīs not that interesting. The tests i linked to surely doesnīt say everything but they do give a pointer to what programs to avoid.

ESET's NOD32 2.7 has worked well here for a long time together with OPF.

I'm a NOD32 v2.7 fan as well. Works great with a very small footprint. You can use v3, which is just as effective, but it now includes a proxy server which channels all traffic through it if you leave it enabled.

Re: Antivirus to use with OP4 or OP2008 ?

Regarding OP2008: Has anyone posted at log viewer script or program for the text files OP2008 generates? excel is to big/slow to startup when I want a quick look in the log. If its tabbed, can I view the recent 10 blocked events in say wordpad with head lines for each column?

I really like the old viewer

Thanks for the NOD32 feedback.

Iīd like to read that "Virus Bulletin" comparative test. Where can I read it withought having to register on the website?

Keep up the good work here at the forum!!

Re: Antivirus to use with OP4 or OP2008 ?

Forgot to mention I installed the NOD32 3.0.650 trial version today.
Wrote about it in http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/sho...ighlight=nod32
because now I need a tight rule set for the system.

Re: Antivirus to use with OP4 or OP2008 ?

Testing NOD32 and itīs a lot faster than Kaspersky.
Kaspersky are more thourough though, and I donīt know yet what to do. Both have problems with OPF (see http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/sho...ighlight=nod32) and this is not to my liking. You have to be an expert (almost ) to make use of all of these programs in a safe way.

Re: Antivirus to use with OP4 or OP2008 ?

I have use kaspersky with outpost for a long time now and I haven't seen anything that is flawless. I don't really get your question if it's either slowness or just other problem. My kaspersky anti-virus works perfectly fine with outpost firewall pro. Just that the setting for kaspersky is that only the proactive and anti-virus/malware file or memory module enable other than that I don't need anything else because you don't need anything else unless you want to conflict with outpost mail protection and so on since outpost is a firewall it's better to let it take care of the other protection than an anti-virus.
