Ad Blocker File

COOL......
Mikhail...This feature works great!
I copyed my ad block list from atguard as imported from agis... http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm
and it works beautifully. It took a while to get rid of the word "Block" before each ad but it's well worth the effort.
I have attached a copy of the finished product if anyone is interested in having the most complete and up to date ad block list. It can be opened in notepad to edit or just have a look..remember to rename this file by taking out the ".txt" part before using the import trick.
Attached Files
File Type: txt ads.ctl.txt (16.4 KB, 861 views)

Ads file

I have updated my Beta version today and wanted to know if this upgraded list is part of the default Beta now.

If not, where is the 'import' option that is noted above?

Thanks in advance,

Miles

Thx to Watchman for the list.

Everyone who wants, should do this.

- Save the file to a directory
- Rename the .ctl.txt file to .ctl (single left mouseclick on file, a second waiting, again. this should highlight the symbol and you can change/delete the filename)
- Move the .ctl file to the outpost directory
- Start properties of Outposts ads plugin
- left click on the small page symbol left of the text starting "The graphics and advertising...", below the clickable option "show ad trashcan..." Summary. Left, below, click the small page symbol. ok?
- Import the .ctl file

Ok, lets forget this pm messages. Obviously this feature dont do a thing.

Youre using iexplorer, right? You save the file to your harddrive and remember the directory.
Do you know how to use the "normal explorer"?

Hi WizzOzz-
I saved the file to my desktop- and yes I know how to use windows explorer. I tried to rename the file and as I said. the file extension is ".ctl" but it has a notepad icon.
So I cannot seem to rename the file- either from explorer or anything else. Any suggestions ?

thx

Guys, if someone knows whats going on, please help Lithp.

My english isnt good enough and Im using explorer only to startup windows commander. So I absolutly dont know why explorer isnt able to rename a file. This sounds strange.
.ctl shouldnt be an extension bound to notepad.

Lithp, can you somehow handle zip files?

If everything fails, I email the file to you.

Am i missing something here? It all seams way to easy-
Right click the file > Select rename > type ads.ctl > hit enter.

Or you could always use dos

C>REN C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\file.ctl.txt file.ctl

Here is the file renamed, just follow the above instructions and dont worry what the icon is, you probably have notepad set as the default to open files with unknown extensions.

You will have to unzip the file as this board will not allow files with .ctl extension

Thank you to all those who took the time to help me. Especially WizzOzz and yaggy and of course Watchman who was kind enough to offer his file. Yaggy - your zipped file worked.

Thank you all again

Chrisclu, please see WizzOzz's post which begtins with :

Thanks to Watchman for the list

If your still not sure- look for the small icon with the globe between the two red lines and click on it. it is in the properties when you right click on "ads"

Good luck

BTW Yaggy... how can I disable notepad to automatically be the default opener??
