How to increase Outpost ad-blocking capabilities

To any new Outpost users....

If you are looking to extend your ad blocking capabilities read the following:

Eric Howes maintains an up-to-date ad block keyword list for Outpost which can be found here: http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm
See post below for further information.

WARNING: For the time being and for all ads lists, EXCEPT the Outpost default (integrated) one, the following should be considered BEFORE proceeding to import them:

These lists are not provided by Agnitum. One of the consequences of this is that problems encountered, using an imported list, should/are not considered Outpost bugs. See below for further info.

Imported lists are provided as-is. By importing them you agree that if possible problems/damages arise then neither Agnitum nor the list's author/maintener/provider will be held responsible.

Since problems associated with imported list are not considered as bugs, refrain from posting in the Outpost Bug reports forum.

Download this and any other custom ad-blocking file to a directory of your choice in the future if you so choose.

In order to import this file do the following:

1. Open up the Outpost interface.
2. select Plug-ins/ Ads from the menu tree (highlight it)
3. Right click and select properties
4. Click on the icon displayed http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum...=&postid=11968
5. Open the file from the directory where you saved your custom ad-blocking list.

Ad strings can then be deleted or added using the properties menu. Or you can add items using the trash can. Below are the steps for restoring the default ad blocking list and removing ad list keywords.

1. Restoring the default Outpost Ads plugin ad list: Open the Outpost window, right-click on the ads plugin and select properties. Press the Default button and then apply this change by clicking on Apply.

2. Removing ad list keywords: In some cases you may find that a useful URL is matched by an ad-list entry, and is therefore blocked. You could go to the same Ads properties dialog and locate the offending keyword, in the list displayed. Press Remove and apply the changes by clicking on Apply

There... that is one trick that may come in useful.

Many thanks to Watchman for his hard work and his kindness in supplying us with several of the initial ad-blocking lists.

Many thanks to Cosmos for his input in updating this thread.

ANNOUNCE: Eric Howes includes AGNIS for Outpost in his AGNIS pages

Good news everybody. Eric Howes, whose lists formed the basis for the Outpost ones, was kind enough to include an Outpost ad plug-in version of his ad blocking AGNIS lists in his pages, as AGNIS for Outpost!

These are very good news for Outpost users out there, since the known ad list keywords that produced problems with Agnitum Forum navigation, are also removed from Eric's versions of the files as well.

Excellent work Eric and thanks for taking under your wings this little baby!

For problems and feedback in general, post in this thread.

Yahoo.com

This doesn't seem to be well known, but I have used it for years on several FW/Proxies - including Outpost:

Use the entire domain name - "yahoo.com" to edit Active Content properties for anypage.yahoo.com.
NOTE that this isn't the same as www.yahoo.com.
