Battlefield 2 and OP issues

Whenever I try to play BF2 with OP running I receive this message:

"12:36:04 Process network access blocked ~E5.0001 modified memory of BF2.EXE" where ~E5.0001 appears to be a temporary .exe file when the BF2 shortcut is clicked.

This prevents me connecting to any BF2 servers.

Can anyone give me some advice about how to get BF2 to work? Giving BF2 full access still produces this component control message.

- BF2 is protected by SafeDisc. Therefor it creates a process "~E5.0001" in memory which will write to memory sections of the main executable
"BF2.EXE". This can be corrected in two ways:

1.) completely disabling "Process Memory Control" or
2.) grant the SafeDisc process access to other tasks.

For solution 2 you have to manually task-switch to the Desktop while BF2 is running and add the exclusion. The process file is located in your %temp% directory named "~e5.0001" e.g. "c:\Documents and Settings\John Doe\Local Settings\Temp\~e5.0001"

- A temporary file is initialized upon program start. This file "~df394b.tmp" has to be added to the "Shared Components" in order to be accessed aswell. It will also be created under %temp% each time the game is launched.

Also notice the DNS and Spoofing issues here

Re: Battlefield 2 and OP issues

HI,
I too would like some other explanation to solve this. The alt tabbing WILL NOT WORK on my pc at all. BF2 simply dominates the screen and I can only get task manager up which does not help me get OUTPOSTS window up at all. I have tried to start OUTPOST from task manager and it starts fine except it is always inaccessible as a window. Even trying to 'switch' it to the front will not work. This means I can never get to add the ~e5.0001 file as an exclusion.

Can anyone post a fix for this if they have done it for OUTPOST v3?? It woudl be really appreciated.

Re: Battlefield 2 and OP issues

NOPE not much of a work around, if you are suggesting using no-cd patches for starting the game..??

So is there any way to turn off the process control checking in OUTPOST v3? That way I at least have some kind of firewall running while using the game.

Re: Battlefield 2 and OP issues

See if you can find the file without the game running and add it before you start.

The file is created on game startup in the temp folder inside documents and settings..etc.

Re: Battlefield 2 and OP issues

It is program used by "EA" and "Macrovision Europe LTD." and can be found in your firewall setting under programs named "Cleanup" and after I upgraded my Zonealarm firewall either it killed the process or I did, It wouldn't let it run in the background and after researching and then got a brainfart looked and found it to be a killed process gave it a "ask" setting, I proceeded to fire up BF2 again and the error didnt happen. So it is an Essential file for any EA game that needs it.
