Outpost AND Kaspersky!
Hi
I would like to use both: any Outpost Pro and KAV 8.0 - Is there a way to do that? Hans |

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
No problem. You have to install KAV 2009 first and then Outpost. During installation, Outpost recognizes that Kaspersky is already installed and then disables 2 of its modules (web control and anti-spyware in real time mode). Do not forget to add Outpost in Kaspersky trust zone. So you have full compatibility of both softwares.

Many thanks for your answer. I will try that and report the result after the game Germany vs. Poland...

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
I tried and it works. But it could be faster. As an example: it needs a lot of time and a couple of refreshings to get this site: http://www.sueddeutsche.de/ - Itґs a newspaper I love.
You told me that the web control will be disabeled within Outpost. But I didnґt find this option. I use OP 4.0.1025.7828 (700) Any tweaks I can try? Hans |

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
I use Outpost Firewall Pro 2008 but I think that Outpost Pro 4 acts the same way when installing : if Outpost detects Kaspersky already installed, it asks for suspending KAV protection during Outpost installation and for putting the adress of Oupost directory in the trustable zone, and then after reboot, you can see that web control and anti-spyware are coloured in grey and not in black, forced to disabled and impossible to change.

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
You are right, when I use KAV 7.0 and OP 4.0 then there is no problem.
But I tried to use the new KAV 8.0 (2009). Which combination do you have? Hans |

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
My combination is KAV 2009 (French version 8.0.0357 - nothing disabled) and Outpost Firewall Pro 2008 (French version 6.0.2295.253.0490 - 2 modules disabled : web control and anti-spyware - only firewall and advanced host protection active).

Yes, that should it be. Iґll try that tonight.

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
Anticipate also having this problem here as I run the Outpost Firewall v6.0.2293.253.0490 with KIS v7.0.1.325 with firewall-related items uninstalled. KAV 2009 is not yet ready for download in the US. Of interest might be that this installation I installed Outpost first, then installed KIS, and it seems to be working (although I would not recommend installing a firewall before an anti-virus to anyone, normally).
There is a post on the Kaspersky site that links here: KAV 2009 + Outpost Firewall incompatibility issues, Web pages would not load normally at all... http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=72933 Kaspersky has a downloadable workaround that involves: --- Quote:

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
does anybody know why there are differences in the outpost-installation on vista and xp?
when i install outpost on vista, with kaspersky antivirus already installed, outpost deactivates anti-spyware and web control. when i install outpost on xp, with kaspersky antivirus already installed, outpost deactivates only anti-spyware. web control is still active under xp... why there is a difference? |

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
Currently, I have an installation of KAV and Outpost Firewall and would like to have all my web access to be monitored by Outpost and not KAV. Is there a way to do it? or should I just leave it to KAV to do the checking? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Outpost AND Kaspersky!
I think it's possible to have both KAV and OFP installed with web control by OFP. But when you install KAV, you must select custom installation of KAV and install only Antivirus Files module in KAV. Though there wouldn't be any incompatibility between the 2 softwares.
