Avira antivirus updates downloading trouble, ok i see , i think because autpost firewall cant handle .gz files , i think all product that need to download files ending with .gz arent 100% compatibele with outpost firewall and co .i habe only the possibility to disabe webcontroll in machine.ini or uninstall all programms that need sometimes files ending with .gz (for example we should uninstall internet explorer, mozilla firefox and all other downloader, and leave only the outpost downloader and why all this .i think they like to leave it bugy and total incompatibel with other best security product on the market or what? and why they do this??

Re: Avira antivirus updates .gz files
Win xp sp2. OFP 6.5.2358 with web control enabled.
As mentioned earlier in a thread started by you (see below), I still have no problem with gzip compressed files, no problem updating my Avira antivirus, no problem downloading any .gz files via any of my browsers. Have you contacted Agnitum directly as was suggested to you in the thread entitled GeoLiteCity.dat.gz? |

thanks minoka for your replay.
could you download GeoLiteCity.dat.gz? your answer is yes , myself i can download .gz files , no problem, my second question could you extract GeoLiteCity.dat.gz? ok your answer please!!! myself i cant extract that file, i can download but cant extract ( i try this with all verion of outpost firewall 2008 and 2009 , from( 2160 till 2360) (the last outpost firewall 6.5.2360 on http://www.agnitum.co.uk/?page=downloads&cat=1) , i trryed the 32 bit and 64 bit firewall on xp with sp2 and sp3 and on vista 32 and vista 64 ,,,,,,,,,i cant extract this file , and this file isnt corrupt , ,, i am working on another partion on my PC with vista 64 bit and comodo firewall 3, i hab no such problem with GeoLiteCity.dat.gz, and never had such problem with avira antivirus, but since the 3.10.2008 ,, avira couldnt update , the update files were downloaded but the updates not installed,, and maybe maybe outpost web control can handle 80% or maybe 99% of .gz files , fo me its not enough , webcontroll must handle all .gz files corectly , i need 100%% , if 80 % are suffisant for you , ok minoka sorryy , thats you and myself i want 100% of compatibility ,,, thanks |

Re: Avira antivirus updates .gz files
The version number of the file I downloaded from agnitum.co.uk is not the same as the one from Agnitum's official site (www.agnitum.com) ... I have no idea why.
The last official version is 6.5.2358. I am really sorry you have this problem with Avira and geolitecity .gz files and wish I could reproduce it, but, since I cannot, I can only suggest you contact Agnitum directly. Last edited by minoka; 10-10-2008 at 06:31 AM. |

Re: Avira antivirus updates .gz files
I also use Antivir premium, but with the updates absolutely no problems.
With me running the current Outpost version 6.5.2358.316.0607! I also know from some of our forum users who run Outpost and AntiVir have also so they have absolutely no problem. ![]() I have just the latest virus update of AntiVir loaded: 7.00.07.27
