Do I have a Dynamic IP address?

Dear All,

Windows XP Pro SP3,
Outpost Firewall Pro latest version

I started the test at http://www.pcflank.com/test.htm and www.grc.com
The test determined my IP address, but is not my true IP address (running ipconfig.exe)

If I have a Dynamic IP address, how can I know or detect which Ports do I have to open or close?

Is there another on-line and secure page to test my system for vulnerabilities to Internet Threats?

These sites determine your external IP address provided to you by your ISP. The IP address that IPConfig.exe comes up with is your internal IP address on your network which could be as small as one PC and a router.

A dynamic address is one that is changed on a regular basis by your ISP. It's fairly common so you probably have one. Normally, one pays extra to get a static IP address.

The ShieldsUp site is a good one but remember that it's testing your router/modem which is what is facing externally to the internet. Any machine behind that device is not tested directly. If you really want to test your machine directly you'll have to bypass those devices or connect with an analog modem.
