Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

When opening programs that affect physical memory outpost freezes the computer and it takes the program about 5-7 minutes to completely open. I have core 2 duo 2.67GHZ intel processor, quadrofx 3450 video card, 3 gb ram nad 4 tb of storage. As soon as OP is put in auto learn the programs open with not any problems and open afterward when put into rules mode. It seems to affect programs that affect physical memory injections like Cinema4d etc. I believe that it might be a bug in OP. Anybody got any valid suggestions or is this a problem the developer Agnitium need to tackle?

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

Hello,

I had a similar problem.

http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum...ad.php?t=25307

Maybe that solves your problem.

If not contact you directly to the Agnitum support.

http://www.agnitum.com/support/contact.php

The following is always needed to locate the problem.I would attach the same request is otherwise always demand for it.

1. Go to Settings -> Logs, and select the 'Enable logging' check box.
2. Turn on 'Log debugging information' option and set 'Log' parameter to 2. Click OK to save the settings for logging.
3. Restart your PC.
4. Reproduce this problem.
5. Immediately after the problem is reproduced, right-click Outpost system tray icon, and select 'Save and archive logs'. After you will click it, 'Feedback' sub-directory will open.
6. Send us feedback.zip file, and also attach your configuration files - configuration.conf and machine.ini that can be found in Outpost installation folder. If you can't see extensions of these files, please, open "Start - Control Panel - Folder options - View" and untick "Hide extensions for known filetypes". All extensions will now be visible to you.

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

My mistake with the freezing but now seems to be not entirely resolved.

I have now installed a new program, and there came the error again.
http://picpick.wiziple.net/
It appeared again took over a minute until the confirmation window Phisical Memory ".

I have tried again and then activated, although the self-learning mode.

And here it then works without problems.
It were provided immediately for it rules without that of the computers has frozen.

The error is always on when you use the Rules Wizard.

So I think it already this is a bug. This seems to occur not always, as in my other programs with Phisical memory access to be opened without problems.

I have just written again to the Agnitum support and hope I get this at least once a reply.

@dht952

I can only advise you to you too to the Agnitum support contact and send them the files.
Only then can the bug be fixed soon.

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

I saw the same issue with VLC.exe an extremely long wait time in which to all appearances the computer was locked up. Without knowing in advance about this, I would have reset.

That's too bad Kurt. It does seem like you found a bug.

I've had some issues with Snagit in the past. I wonder if these screen capture programs install a kernel driver that, if situations are right, have an impact on OP's operation. I would also think this was a lock up and probably reset the computer.

I don't know about that video player though Firepost. It sounds interesting. How's it working for you?

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

I could now reproduce this bug in other XP SP3 systems.

As soon as Agnitum needs to find a solution.

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

They might decide that XP is no longer worth the trouble and drop support. I'm not saying they will but certainly Microsoft has done it.

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

Hello Manny,

I see something different.

Windows XP suportet until 2015.

Why should I switch to Windows 7?My system runs without problems.

Here in Germany, the majority still use XP.Vista was never an issue with us.

I would have long since switched to Win 7, if the XP user would also be possible.

But for a change so I had to completely reinstall.

And as long as Agnitum Outpost for XP release has to work so well without problems.

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

Again, no such issue with PicPick on my win xp sp3 machine.
It is a nice screen capture/editor, but, eventhough I disabled Check for Program Update, it still tried to connect! I prefer my present screenapture app...

I was thinking of XP SP2 wich will end support in July. Lots of people are still using that particularly in the corporate worl. SP3 is scheduled to end April 2014 : http://www.computerworld.com/s/artic..._in_tough_spot

There's no real reason for you to update to Win 7 as long as you are happy with XP. Eventually though software companies like Agnitum will drop support for it but that day has not yet come. If I recall Agnitum dropped support of Win 98 about 2-3 years ago. So you are probably safe for a long time.

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

@Kurt W, Thanks for your response. I believe we have found a bug in outpost and I will take your advice and send the logs to agnitium. I purchased the life time licenses. also, another bug is the ip block list. When the computer reboots the list in op blocks the ip's but if op is open and the ip block lists is disabled and then enabled then it stops blocking ip's. I have tried this several times and it repeats. The freeze problems occurs with first time opening certain programs that require access to physical memory it seems to be. It took 7 minutes for a program to open the other night, but i will try and capture the logs the next time it occurs and send to agnitium. I hope this and the ip bug will be fixed in the next upgrade or asap. Windows xpsp3 will continue be supported by Microsoft until mid 2014. there are alot of expensive programs that i have on my xpsp3 that i do not want to switch to windows 7 until they have been thoroughly experienced by users like us. I am tired of buying software that a person spends more time trying to find the bugs than using the software.
Regards, dht952
Thanks, Kurt

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

I only used VLC for some existing streams and a few videos for some web work. It worked on everything I used it on but one. There is the added bonus of being available cross platform. There are a few vulnerabilities in 1.05 fixed for 1.06 but, no one has packaged 1.06 for windows. If you want to check it out I would wait for 1.1 to finish the RC cycle.

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

I've just installed the new version 7.0 3373.514.1234.

The error with the freeze when accessing Phisical Memory was not resolved.

Re: Programs Opening Freeze Windows xpSP3

I too have XP as told in my sig.I have taken a screenshot using
"snapshot" and having vlc open. The one thing I noticed, the screen caprure software was not part of any auto rule thing, as such, OP flashed a warning message at me requiring a response. My machine did stop untill I gave a response, but I do not think this is a bug.
