Once you have installed Outpost correctly the first thing to do it to take a look at the main Outpost window. To do this double click on the Outpost icon in the System Tray. Another way to open the main window is to right click on the tray icon and select Show Outpost Firewall from the popup Context Menu.

The main display consists of several elements:
1 - My Internet tree
This section is where you can find out information about what connections have been established in and out of your machine, what ports applications are listening to as well as logs for all firewall activity. After first installing Outpost, the My Internet tree only displays All Connections, Allowed, Blocked, and Reported logs.

2 - Plug-Ins tree
All started plugins can be found listed here. Outpost ships with six plugins: Ads, Content, DNS Cache, Active Content, Attachment Filter, and Attack Detection. Third party plugins will also be displayed here when started.

3 - Log Panel
When you select the start of the My Internet tree the right hand pane displays a welcome screen where on the top left hand side are various links to Outposts settings. If you select the Plug-Ins tree or any branches under My Internet or Plug-Ins, the welcome screen will be replaced by the relevant logs.

4 - Shortcut Buttons
Quick access to certain features like Agnitum Update, Policy, and Log Filtering can be found here. At the time of writing this tool bar is not configurable.

5- Menus
Access to all of Outpost's features can be found through the familiar Windows drop-down menus. Also the title bar displays what version of Outpost you are using (Pro of Free) and the name of the current configuration file you have loaded.

6 - Status Bar
The status bar displays how many web and firewall blocks have been made as well as what Policy is currently in operation.
