Shortcut Buttons

Like most Windows applications Outpost has a Shortcut bar with buttons that give you immediate access to some of the more common functions.

Starting form left to right we have:

[Policy selector]Policy selector

This is one of the most commonly used functions. The mode you have Outpost in specifies how communication attemps are handled, you can tell at a glance what mode Outpost is in by looking at this buttons icon. The modes are [Stop All mode icon] Stop All mode, [Block Most mode icon] Block Most mode, [Rules Wizard mode icon] Rules Wizard mode, [Allow Most mode icon] Allow Most mode, [Disable mode icon] Disable mode. To change the mode Outpost is in click on the button once and a dropdown menu will appear. Then just click on the mode you want. It's that simple! You can also change Outposts mode via the 'Options' menu: Options -> Policy... or via the tray icon context menu.

[Options selector selector]Options selector

Clicking once on this button opens the Options window with the 'General' tab selected. This also gives you access to Policy, System wide rules and Application rules as well as information on which plugins are started and their options. If you want to you can hold down the left button instead of clicking on the Options selector and select a plugin that you want to view the options for.

[Group by selector]Group by selector

This option lets you select how connections are grouped. By default All Connections groups by Application but you can change this to anything that you want. The grouping can also be changed via the connection monitors context menu:

[Filter]Filter

Only available when you have selected the Allowed, Blocked, or Reported logs. This button opens up the Filter window which allows you to set up a custom filter on the logged information.

Filtering in depth

[Show all events]Show all events

Only available when you have selected the Allowed, Blocked, or Reported logs and when a filter has been applied. Use this button to cancel any filter you have enabled.

[Filter by selection selector]Filter by selection selector

Only available when you have selected the Allowed, Blocked, or Reported logs. This dropdown menu allows you to filter the log file entries on various columns within the log: 'Application', 'Remote Host', etc., etc. The grouping can also be changed via the log context menu:

Only available when you have selected the Allowed, Blocked, or Reported logs. This dropdown menu allows you to filter the log file entries based on a time period: 'Current session', 'Today', and 'All'. The grouping can also be changed via the log context menu:

[Update]Update

Using this button will start Agnitum Products Update. Use this feature to check for and update to new versions of Outpost. First select the type of update Automatic or Custom.

Then click on the 'Settings' button and configure proxy settings (if you use one) and what type of update (Stable or Current (the latest beta build)):

Then just click on the 'OK' button and follow the rest of the wizard.

Shows you Outpost's copyright information and what version you are using (along with driver versions).
